Curriculum
Our school curriculum is based on the requirements laid down in National Curriculum (2014) which covers the subjects of: English - Mathematics - Science - Computing - Religious Education - History - Geography - Art - Music - Physical Education - Design & Technology and Modern Foreign language (French)
We lay emphasis on English and maths throughout the school as we feel these are the foundations on which all else is built and they are taught everyday - we then build on these across other curriculum areas through teaching in a thematic /cross curricular way wherever possible
We aim to provide learning opportunities that are both challenging and stimulating and closely matched to an individual child's level of development and we have a long tradition of supporting class based learning with visits off site to museums, art galleries, living history days etc. We have visitors in school to run workshops and talks related to the current teaching theme and all our children from reception to year 6 have a residential visit to one of Cheshire's Outdoor Education Centres where we walk, orienteer, kayak, dance, paint etc. These first hand experiences really bring the children's learning to life.
Our curriculum coverage plan shows themes and topics in all subjects, for all year groups for the year 2017 -18 and our individual class plans show the theme coverage term by term for each class so as you can support your child in their learning.
